The word ‘excited’ does not even begin to describe how I feel about the season 2 premiere of Gossip Girl tomorrow. I think the fact that the show is in New York City makes me so eager to watch, along with the ridiculous (in a good & bad way) styling of the characters.

Who else is pumped? I want some lots of bows, dirty looks, Blair + Chuck action and dramarama this instant!

The Chic Ones

16Aug08

Vogue Paris girls Géraldine Saglio and Mélanie Huynh are two chic ladies. The word ‘chic’ is quite an overused term, but they are deserving of the word––and more! Take a look for yourself.

I love Géraldine’s conservative but edgy (ha, I hate that word, but I guess it could be used appropriately here) style. Blazers and jeans one day, cropped leather jacket & a itsy-bitsy black mini the next. I like how she seems to prefer clutches over bags!

Mélanie is––as Tyra would say––fierce. She covers up the top part of her body when she showcases her legs. One comes out and one goes away––good idea, no? I wish I could have all her shoes and leather jackets…I covet their wardrobes.

Statement jewelry & shoes were seriously all over the F/W 08.09 runways. Lanvin’s chunky mirror necklaces, jeweled cuffs, pearls & gold booties totally won me over. Balenciaga’s jewels were more sophisticated–– think leafy pearl and rhinestone pieces, gemstone-laden necklaces.

Alexander McQueen had lavishly decorated headpieces and jewelry––with egg shaped bags and British flag emblazoned clutches––that were totally over-the-top, but didn’t overpower the clothes. Givenchy had gold chain necklaces with crosses and other trinkets all over them. Louis Vuitton showed crazy wedge-heels and interesting headpieces. Last but not least, Marni had statement bracelets covered.

I’m really inspired by all the statement pieces, and I’m definitely going to try to incorporate more statements in my wardrobe this fall. How will you be dressing during the fall & winter?

You should all go see The Black Balloon! It’s such a good movie, and Gemma Ward is in it––yay! If you have no idea what this movie is about, here’s a little summary without giving away too much.

When Thomas (Rhys Wakefield) and his family move to a new home and he has to start at a new school, all he wants is to fit in.

When his pregnant mother (Toni Collette) has to take things easy, his father Simon (Erik Thomson) puts him in charge of his autistic older brother Charlie (Luke Ford).

Thomas, with the help of his new girlfriend Jackie (Gemma Ward), faces his biggest challenge yet. Charlie’s unusual antics take Thomas on an emotional journey that causes his pent-up frustrations about his brother to pour out – in a story that is funny, confronting, and ultimately heart-warming.

P.S. – I totally did not write that and stole it from TBB website, of course.

“Wowee!”

Socks

31Jul08

Lately I’ve been pretty obsessed with socks. I love knee-highs in particular––I’ve been wearing them since 3rd grade, so they’re kind of a necessity in and out of school. I’m dying for some thick grey or black (both is fine too!) knee-highs and thin ones as well.

I can’t wait until I can bundle up in layers of sweaters and cardigans and slouchy, grey knee-highs.

Anyone else disliking summer, or is it just me?

‘Genius’ is a word that describe Alexander Wang and his F/W 2008 collection. Loved the sheer shirts, although I would never be caught in one at my age and the zip boots were sick and executed perfectly. There was lots of menswear going on––not unlike other collections––with vests, blazers, and wide leg pants galore. Why must the man make such simple but awesome shirts? I want all of them, and all of this collection.
